11/30/18 "The Weight Of Obligation"

11/30/18

"The Weight Of Obligation"

● Obligation- The condition of being morally or legally bound to do something; a duty or commitment.
A debt of gratitude for a service or favor.

In preparation to go fight Goliath:

Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them.

"I cannot go in these," he said to Saul, because I am not used to them." So he took them off.
1 Samuel 17:38-39 NIV

Saul was David's mentor, he looked up to him. He was a father- figure to David.  Seeing as how his own father, Jesse never deemed him as being much, and kept him outside of the house.
(1 Samuel 16).

So, what if in the text, David had felt obligated to Saul and not wanting to disappoint him...He decided to keep on a tunic that was clearly too heavy for him.
Thankfully, he didnt....But what if he did???

Many of you, you feel obligated to your father, obligated to your mother, obligated to that high school coach who was always there cheering you on etc.
You don't want to disappoint them; you don't want to let them down.

You are buried under the weight of obligation and it's not some form of Goliath that's threatening to take you out, but you are doing your own self the greatest harm.

I know the Apostle Paul said, "I have become ALL things to all men, that I might by all means save some."
1 Corin 9:22 NKJ

That's good for when you're trying to save souls, but not at the expense of your own soul.
BELOVED, YOU CAN'T BE ALL THINGS TO ALL PEOPLE....You just can't!!!

It's far too stressful to try and make yourself become all "they" want you to be and all you need YOURSELF to be at the same time; something will eventually fall painfully short.
Trying to be ALL things to all people is the quickest way to stress yourself out.

Study Info Reveals: Emotional stress that stays around for weeks or months can weaken the immune system and cause high blood pressure, fatigue, depression, anxiety and even heart disease.
In particular, too much epinephrine can be harmful to your heart.
It can change the arteries and how their cells are able to regenerate.

Therefore, Beloved, you must be like David for the sake of your health...Take off everything that's weighing you down.

David didn't hesitate, he didn't worry about how Saul would feel...He just took it off, he took the tunic off. Maybe, he was too young and immature to understand obligation or the weight of obligation, but still he took it off.

He didn't go before Goliath, trying to be Saul,  trying to be like his mentor, trying to be like his father-figure, but he came as himself and God gave him the victory.

SOMEBODY: Perhaps, it's not that you feel obligated, but that you don't want to be YOU. So, you're trying to hide in the shadow of someone else's identity.
Either way, it won't work.

Meditation Points:

1.You must find the courage to say, "No" and be okay with that other person's reaction to your no.

2. You are not obligated to walk in another person's shoes or to allow them to live vicariously through you.

3. You are not a bad son or daughter or person for choosing not to continue in the tradition of your family or mentor....Always choose what God has for you instead.

4. Your health matters, every part of your health.

5. Self-care is not selfish.

6. Burying yourself under the weight of someone's expectations of you or in someone else's identity is a miserable  state to be in .

7. God is waiting on YOU to be YOU and take off the weight of that tunic, the weight of that thing forced upon you.

8. God says: I knew YOU...(Jere 1:5)
I formed YOU...(Psalm 139)....There is something special about YOU that God is addressing in these two scriptures.

9. Be YOU and if they really love YOU, and are in your cheering section, they will continue to cheer with no strings attached to their praise.

Father God,
Reverse any health issues that have come from them being stressed, over emotional, buried under the pressure, buried under the weight of obligation.

Give them the boldness of a young David...To take it off, to say "No", to free themselves and feel no guilt.

In Jesus name,
Amen.

Always Here For You.
Hosea 12:13 NIV

11/25/18 "Open Compassion"

11/25/18

5 Minutes Of Focus

"Open Compassion"

The bible says: The Prodigal Son while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around  him and kissed him.

Luke 15:20 NIV

SOMEBODY: You feel like you're still a long way off from where you're supposed to be,  a long way off from where you want to be, still a long way off from your goal.

You're hard on yourself, you're judging yourself and you think that everybody else is doing the same. When the truth is, most decent folks are too busy trying to get passed their own struggles to focus on yours.

Beloved, Compassion still exist, you just can't see it, because you can't get pass your own expectations of yourself.

Expectations you failed to live up to because like the Prodigal Son you got distracted and went off in another direction.

So, Now you think the door of compassion is closed on your life, no one cares or understands...But God does.

The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, rich in love.

Psalm 145:8 NIV

He offers open compassion, he doesn't close Himself off from you. Instead, he opens his arms wide to receive you back...Throwing his arms of mercy around you, kissing you with a moment of grace.

A grace period- some needed time for you to get yourself together without having to think about what you owe or who you owe.

He's gracing you with another chance.

God gives us chance after chance to be saved from death and brought into the light that gives life....YES, you could have been dead, but he spared your life, in spite of YOURSELF or you wanting him to.

Job 33:29-30 CEV

So, Stop comparing yourself to others, that's not wise, considering what you're already going through.

He loves you better than that. Do like the Prodigal Son did...He got up, got himself together and went and received.

It's time to cut out all that wild living and get intentional on purpose, for a greater purpose. Go and receive the Father's open compassion. It's available to you, even now.

Luke 15:11-18 NIV

11/18/18 "Live Your Dream"

11/18/18

5 Minutes of Focus

"Live Your Dream"

The little cutie in the picture is my 1st heartbeat of many to come. She's the one that started me on this journey of living my dream.

Her name, Diribu and in 1997 she was a 4 year old from Ethiopia.

You see, As long as I can remember, I dreamed of one day taking on the responsibility of sponsoring children @worldvisionusa and helping them better themselves through health, education etc.

And at the age of 24, I finally picked up the phone to do it; scared because it's a serious commitment, but EXCITED...

I pick up the phone. It was my dream manifesting itself after so many long years of being on the sidelines, wishing I could.

Why am I sharing this?

Because so many of you have that one dream that needs to be fulfilled...That one dream that is a tree of life for you, it means everything to you.

Beloved, What is it that gives you life, every time you think of it?

What is it that you dream of doing, you want to do, but you keep putting it off out of fear and it's making you sick (internally)? Your heart is not happy, not really. You are not fulfilled, because your dream is not fulfilled. Your hope is deferred.

You don't realize it right now, but the bible clearly says: Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life.

Proverbs 13:12 NLT

Going on to say: For the dream comes through much effort.

Ecclesiastes 5:3 AMP

Even though, it's scary, so scary...Effort is required on your part...You can't just wait for God to do EVERYTHING.

You're going have to be the one to pick up the phone, make the investment, google what you need to know, reach out to your potential audience/customers, that organization etc.

If you want it, MOVE for it.

Peter wanted to walk on the water, but waiting on Jesus didn't get him out the boat. He had to SPEAK UP and MOVE for it. Matthew 14

Move for it...Live Your Dream.

Life is short...Live Your Dream. I have no regrets and neither will you.

Until Next Sunday.

11/11/18 "Pull THEM Off, Be YOU!"

11/11/18

5 Minutes of Focus

"Pull THEM Off, Be YOU!"

n preparation to go fight Goliath: Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them.

"I cannot go in these," he said to Saul, because I am not used to them." So he took them off.

1 Samuel 17:38-39 NIV

Beloved, Be honest with people. Tell them what you can't do, what you don't feel comfortable doing. Stop trying to fit in stuff, stop walking around in stuff, in a life that wasn't meant for you, in a lifestyle you're not even used to.

Again, God says: That's not your pattern to follow or your path to repeat.

Just because that's the way they do things, has always done things, that does not make it the ONLY way.

Don't let them confuse you. Find YOUR way and it starts with the courage to "Be YOU" with nothing artificial added.

Stop feeling like you need their permission because you don't!

It's time you learned that freedom is freedom because it's freeing. It's releases you from tunics, coats, and helmets you were never meant to wear, put on, add on as apart of your life's makeup.

So, today...Beloved, make a list of everything that's out of place, makes you feel forced or uncomfortable. Then pin point the person or people you need to have a serious talk with.

It's time to stop pretending. Life is already hard enough without you falling into the trap of being a people pleaser.

Do like David, take off everything you've been given, taught, things you picked up on your own that you know don't fit with who you are now and has no place or value to add to your future.Take back your power... Be YOU.

Until Next Sunday.

11/4/18 "Securing You Access"

11/4/18

5 Minutes of Focus

"Securing You Access"

In Matthew 25 NIV

5 virgins had their lamps and oil with them and 5 didn't.

5 were ready to meet and go in with the bridegroom and 5 weren't.

The 5 that weren't ready had their lamps, but no extra oil. So, when what they had was burnt out and they were told they couldn't borrow any more...

They decided to take the advice of the 5 virgins that were ready and leave their "desired place" to go and purchase some oil for themselves. In doing so, they missed the bridegroom's coming!!!

DON'T MISS OUT because it's taking forever and you have become drowsy. Wake up and get yourself prepared.

"5 Prophetic Principles That Will Secure You Access"

1. Never sell your oil...Freely pour into others what God has given you, but then take the time to get refilled. You must keep oil on you, with you.

To whom much is given much is required. Luke 12:48 NKJ

2. Never let your light go out for the purpose of another...In the words of Apostle Paul:  I keep my body under control and I make it my slave, so I won't lose out after telling others the good news.

1 Corin 9:27 CEV

3. Carry your lamp (within)...In other words, keep your faith lit. Reminding yourself: God's word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Psalm 119:105 NKJ

4. Think about the advice given to you, BEFORE you decide to take it....Had the 5 that weren't ready thought twice about leaving and just stayed were they where. Even though, it would have been dark without oil for their lamps. Still, they were there in the right place.

Matt 25 NIV

SOMEBODY: You may not be able to see your way, but if you just stay put. You're in the right place.

5. Your "desired place"- Don't let nobody talk you into leaving your desired place. God says: He has planted you (like a tree) by the rivers of water. Something is going to flow out of that place for you, if just you stay put (where you were planted) and submit.

THERE IS RIVERS IN YOU.

Psalm 1:3 NKJ

Until Next Sunday.
