1/30/22 "Prepping Season "

1/30/22

5 Minutes of Focus

"Prepping Season"

1 When he had finished praying, Jesus left with his disciples and crossed the Kidron Valley. On the other side there was a garden, and he and his disciples went into it.

📖 Read for yourself what happened in between verse 1 & verse 12, but the end result is that Jesus got arrested.

12 Then the detachment of soldiers with its commander and the Jewish officials arrested Jesus....
John 18:1,12 NIV

As you can see, John 18:1 opens with Jesus finishing up in prayer, but despite all His praying...He STILL ended up getting arrested by verse 12.

Did all that praying fail Him?

How could Jesus' prayers not work, not prevent Him from being arrested?

Many of you are puzzled and have similar questions about your own prayer life. Why didn't praying work?

Beloved,
God never promised you that prayer would prevent or stop EVERYTHING.
But have you ever considered...

That just maybe, prayer instead of preventing a situation or stopping a situation...Prayer is preparing you for the situation?

Prayer prepared Jesus for His arrest....Of course, He knew he would be arrested, but still he needed to prepare mentally, prepare emotionally for the actual taking away of His freedom etc.

You see, It's one thing to know it and something totally different to actually go through it.

Therefore, You need to be prepared for what's next.

You need to be prepared or you won't be able to go through it, you won't be able to handle it.

Jesus needed to be in The Garden of Gethsemane praying harder than he had in days prior.

It was the praying, crying, the breaking of His Will that happened in The Garden of Gethsemane that prepared him for His arrest, that prepared him for The Cross.
Luke 22:39-54 NKJ

So, Instead of being mad that your prayers didn't prevent or stop that thing from happening....Seek to discover in time, what your prayer life is preparing you for and BE GRATEFUL for your prepping season.

God is preparing you for what's next. You will be able to get through it. You will be able to handle the arrest, the sickness, the kids acting crazy, sibling rivalry, marriage issues etc.

Keep praying...Your strength is in prayer, in communicating daily with The Father.

Selah- Pause & Think About That!

Until Next Sunday.

1/23/22 "People & Their Attitude "

1/23/22

5 Minutes of Focus

"People & Their Attitude"

Then Jesus went to Bethany, to the home of Simon, a man Jesus had healed of leprosy. A woman came into the house, holding an alabaster flask filled with expensive, fragrant oil. She came right to Jesus, and in a lavish gesture of devotion, she poured out the costly oil, and it cascaded over his head as he was at the table. When the disciples saw this, they were offended. “What a total waste!” they grumbled. “We could have sold it for a great deal of money and given it to the poor.” Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, “Why are you critical of this woman? She has done a beautiful act of kindness.
Matthew 26:6‭-‬10 TPT

Beloved,
There will always be some who are critical of you, critical of what you're doing...Even though, It's  as Jesus said, "A beautiful act of kindness "they still have something negative to say.

They always want to say what could have been done...Anything to try and downplay what you have done or are doing.
People & Their  Attitude

So, I know it feels like you can't win for losing when it comes to certain people. I'm pretty the woman (in Matt 26) would have felt the same way had she known what the disciples were thinking.

And she paid no attention to their grumbling which allowed her to do what she did for Jesus UNBOTHERED.

A Word 4 SOMEBODY:
Don't let people and their attitude bother you. You know what you're doing and  why you're doing it. You know you are doing it for Jesus and since you have His approval nothing else should be said. Who cares what they think or are thinking.

In the words of The Apostle Paul, "Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ."
Galatians 1:10 NIV

Case Closed!!!

1/22/22 "They Just Won't Let Me Be Great!"

1/22/22

#Sponsorship Saturday:

"They Just Won't Let Me Be Great!"

What's that saying that's real popular right now?

"They Just Won't Let Me Be Great!"

Guess what?
I made up my mind....

I'm not trying to be great, but I want to help others be the greatest they have ever been.

Isn't that what Jesus did when he was physically here on the earth?

He wasn't seeking to be great or trying to promote his own greatness, but he went about making everybody he encounter the greatest they've ever been.

ALL the healings were about putting a cripple man, a blind man and so many others in a greater position of power, in a position were they could help themselves and not be totally depended on people.
John 5, Mark 10

One such time stands out in my mind especially, even though it wasn't a physical healing.

In John 4:
Jesus meets up with the woman at the well and as she talks...

He calls out the condition of her personal life, the status of her relationship.

Why? Because He wanted something greater for her than what she was settling for.

Many of you are settling for LESS than God's best in your life, and God just wants you to be great and for you to help someone else be great. Pay it forward!!!

But some of you have been settling for LESS for so long...It goes all the way back to your childhood.

As a child you settled....

It shouldn't be that way, NO ADULT and especially NO CHILD should have to grow up settling for LESS because of the country they're in,  because of the environment they're in. When the bible says, God so loved THE WORLD- He meant that GLOBALLY.
John 3:16

So, Now that you know, God meant for his love to have a global impact, he meant for greatness to be the level of ALL  he created, but especially those who are born again and are His children.

Starting with the least of these...
Let's help somebody else be great, starting with a child, starting an impoverished community.

Become #WorldVision sponsor impact the life of a child.
They deserve to be great!!!

1/16/22 "Positioned"

1/16/22

5 Minutes of Focus

"Positioned"

He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him.
John 1:10‭-‬11 NLT

This, of course, is talking about Jesus and the rejection he suffered at the hands of His own people.

You see, Most of the time, It's not the ones you were there for, that will be there for you...God has a  people for that.

In the meantime, You end up having to deal with the ones that act like that they don't know you,  the ones who give you the "cold shoulder" in public and just completely reject you.

Jesus understands ALL too well.  He had some moments like this that were not physically painful, but were just as painfully devastating to His emotions.

He was rejected by His own people....You know, the ones that sounded like him, the ones that came from the same place as Him.

But Jesus did something that I want everybody reading this to do.

He NEVER took their rejection as a personal loss...You should do the same.

It's not personal, but it is their problem....Anyone who would deliberately reject you has a real problem.

Instead, He saw their rejection as an opportunity for Him to bless so many more people; MAINLY YOU and Me, whoever would believe Him, whoever would accept Him.

That's why the scripture says:
But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.
John 1:12 NLT

Beloved,  I know, You have much more to give somebody and the right people will believe and accept you....

But until then...Just know it's not personal. The rejection just positioned you to be an EVEN BIGGER blessing someday soon.

Think About It!!

Until Next Sunday.

"Feed Her"

#Sponsorship Saturday:

Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished. He gave strict orders not to let anyone know about this, and told them to give her something to eat.
Mark 5:42‭-‬43 NIV

Jesus BEFORE he left made sure Jairus' daughter would be given something to eat.

If part of an innocent 12 year old child's healing process included the simple act of feeding her....

And if it was important enough to Jesus to make sure those exact words, "Give her something to eat"  was written in The New Testament Book Of Mark via the Holy Spirit....

Shouldn't it be equally as important to you as a follower of Jesus ( Jesus Of Nazareth) that you follow through and do just that...."Give her something to eat?"Give him something to eat?

He gave them strict orders not to let anyone know about this (for whatever reason) ....

But notice He didn't tell them to keep  quiet about giving her something to eat.

Why?

Because feeding a child is and should be something we are all willing to take part in.

Feed a child.

5 Minutes of Focus

"He Took The Climb"

Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down.
Matthew 14:31‭-‬32 NIV

You serve a God who will not leave you when you fail, will not leave you when you fall.

Stop allowing people to criticize you, like Christians can't mess up. Peter messed up with Jesus right there, physically near him.

Jesus was right there, He was in fellowship with Peter out on the water AND Peter STILL lost his focus, he STILL allowed the cares of this world to rattle him, to shake him.

So, Beloved, Stop beating yourself up because you've messed up already just a few days into the new year.

Here's the thing, God never expected you to be perfect....
That's people expectation of you, NOT God's.

Remember, The scriptures says:
When we were unable to help ourselves, at the right time, Christ died for us....which means God is used to seeing you in a vulnerable state, He's used to seeing your weaknesses.
Romans 5:6 NCV

But you know, what I love about Peter & Jesus out on the water? I LOVE that even though, Jesus called Peter out for losing faith and doubting....

He didn't let him go back and start over ALONE. He didn't let Peter go back and face the other disciples ALONE.

No, the scripture says:
And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down.
Matthew 14:32 NIV

They meaning Peter & Jesus....

He was right there for him, he took the climb with him, he got back into the boat with him and he will do the same for you.

Until Next Sunday.

1/8/22 "Look Like God"

1/8/22

"Look Like God"

#Sponsorship Saturday:

Beloved,
If you seriously want to look like the God you serve in this earth....Then you must give.

Giving is when you and I look most like God.

When we give what we have to help someone else, we are being a picture of God in the earth that NO MAN, woman, boy, or girl can deny.

Have you ever given someone a gift so good, a gift they weren't expecting to the point that it left them speechless?

That's the impact giving like God has on people, ALL people.
Why?

Because from the very beginning, God gave, in order to help us; God made the ultimate sacrifice and gave.

For here is the way God loved the world—he gave his only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life.
John 3:16 TPT

Then through Jesus, he went on to let us know what we are suppose to do when we have been blessed to have, but see someone else that does not have.

17 If anyone sees a fellow believer in need and has the means to help him, yet shows no pity and closes his heart against him, how is it even possible that God’s love lives in him?

18 Beloved children, our love can’t be an abstract theory we only talk about, but a way of life demonstrated through our loving deeds.
1 John 3:17‭-‬18 TPT

So, Want you demonstrate the love of God, His agape love to a child that does not have it as good as you did as a cihild?

Want you demonstrate the love of God, His agape love to a child that doesn't have it nearly as a good as your children, but they are just as deserving as one of your own?

1/2/22

5 Minutes of Focus

"Do You In '22"

“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
Matthew 14:28‭-‬29 NIV

Peter BEFORE asking Jesus for permission to come and walk on the water, NEVER stopped to think about who could possibly do it better or what others who are competitive and make a living out on the water have already achieved.

No, In the moment, Peter was just keeping his eyes on Jesus. What  Jesus was doing, what Jesus was saying...And Jesus said, "Come".

Go into 2022 with the mindset that you will not compare yourself to others because the bible says that's not wise.
2 Corin 10:12 NIV

You won't even think about what others are doing or have already done.

You will "Do You" in '22. Whatever God has called you to do, that will be your focus, that will be your primary goal.

No longer will you be trying to compete in or over something you know God has already spoken to you about.

Now, It's just time to do it. Stop thinking about it and do it.

You've already talked it over with God and He approves. What more do you want?

In the words of Jesus, "Come." You have been invited to take the next step in achieving something great. For the dream comes through much effort....

1/1/22 "Get Involved"

As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.
John 9:1‭-‬3 NIV

Why do some people always think the parents are at fault for the way a child is?

So, Is it the parent's fault when a child has to do without because there is not enough?

Is it the parent's fault when a child cries from hunger, their stomach swollen because of malnutrition?

Or is it that people can be cruel and blind to the fact that there might just be another reason for the things that have happened?

The bible says:
Don’t jump to conclusions—there may be a perfectly good explanation for what you just saw.
Proverbs 25:8 MSG

There may be a perfectly good explanation....But what if that explanation INVOLVES YOU?

In order for God to get the glory out of a child's life who was born a certain way, a child who was not born into the best of circumstances....
It involves YOU.

Take the blinders off, stop being judgmental. Would you want someone to judge you or help you, if you were a single parent in a country not as privileged as America, struggling to raise your child, raise your children?

A lot of the children waiting for a #WorldVision sponsor like you to respond to their need,  respond to their cry for help is actually from single parent homes.

It's hard enough being a single parent in America....But can you imagine trying to cope and make ends meet in a country that is UNPREPARED, UNDERDEVELOPED?

Will you reach out not in judgment, but with the compassion of JESUS and make some child, some  mother's life a little easier.

This 1st day of the #NewYear for just 39 a month...
