2/26/23 "You Deserve Better"

2/26/23

5 Minutes of Focus

 "You Deserve Better "
One of the criminals who had been hanged [on a cross beside Jesus] kept hurling abuse at Him, saying, “Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us [from death]!” But the other one rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? We are suffering justly, because we are getting what we deserve for what we have done; but this Man has done nothing wrong.”
Luke 23:39‭-‬41 AMP

Perhaps, You have been emotionaly scarred by someone who is guilty of everything you've accused them of.

Perhaps, God has allowed you to see their punishment for the wrong that they have done.

Still even in doing so, you feel like you feel. There is no faking your feelings, never has been.

You feel like you deserve better than the abuse you've suffered and you would be right...YOU DO DESERVE BETTER, but here's the thing, You deserve better than that person KNOWS HOW to be!!

They don't know how to be any different than they are. One of the criminals who hung on The Cross with Jesus hadn't changed one bit.

He still was being abusive, and disrespectful up until the end because some people just never change.

But you, don't hang your head and don't cry because your better has a name...His name is Jesus. Only Jesus could hang between two criminals and be unchanged, unbothered.

Despite the pain, Jesus remained true to His assignment. He saved one criminal and the other one, He just let him be.
Luke 23:39-43 NIV

BELOVED, You have to learn to save who you can and who you can't, just let them be and look to Jesus. He is THE BETTER you deserve. So, Focus your eyes & your heart on Him.

[Looking away from all that will distract us and] focusing our eyes on Jesus, who is the Author and Perfecter of faith [the first incentive for our belief and the One who brings our faith to maturity], who for the joy [of accomplishing the goal] set before Him endured the cross, disregarding the shame...

2/19/23 "Step Up"

2/19/23

5 Minutes of Focus

"Step Up!!"
Jesus answered, “I told you that I am he. If you are looking for me, then let these men go.”
John 18:8 NIV

This is one of my favorite scriptures. It blesses my soul every time I read it...Because here, Jesus is about to be arrested after being betrayed by Judas and STILL HE has the mindset to protect those who had nothing to do with what was about to happen to Him.

Jesus STEPPED UP and let them know that He was THE ONE they were looking for and to let these men go.

This scripture is powerful because it's a reminder to us all about the importance of taking responsibility, not blaming others, and caring for the well-being  of those around us.

So, Just to read that Jesus stepped up and took full responsibility (though He, himself was innocent) and asked that the other men be let go is a refreshing change.

It's a powerful verse especially since we are living among people who wouldn't mind taking us down with them. ..Their mindset being, "If I go down, I'm taking them down with me."

It's the mindset of the devil who wasn't satisfied until he had managed to take 1/3 of the angels with him when he got kicked out of heaven.

And the huge dragon was cast down and out–that age-old serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, he who is the seducer (deceiver) of all humanity the world over; he was forced out and down to the earth, and his angels were flung out along with him.
Revelation 12:9 AMPC

But not Jesus...He didn't want anyone else involved in what His enemies came there to do. So, He spoke up.

Because sometimes being like Jesus means taking it all on yourself, so that others can go free, taking responsibility for what happens next, and being okay with the outcome either way.

That's the kind of God we serve...His name is Jesus; Jesus of Nazareth.

2/12/23 "Trust The Anointing"

2/12/23

5 Minutes of Focus

"Trust The Anointing"
So Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.”
II Kings 4:2 NKJV

Notice how she was quick to tell Elisha she had NOTHING in her house but a jar of oil...She didn't pause to think about it, she just responded.

She looked at the oil SHE DID HAVE as being 1/2 empty (as being NOTHING), when she should have seen that the jar was indeed 1/2 full.

Keep in mind that the bible in
II Kings 4:1 (NKJV) let's us know she had been the wife of one of the sons of the prophets which means that she had been living with a prophet, had been married to a prophet (meaning that as a married couple she had BECOME ONE with a prophet), ONE with the anointing that sees...But she couldn't see? That makes no sense.

Didn't the bible say, He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward?
Matthew 10:41 NKJV

So, She had a reward coming for the years she had, as a wife taken care of her husband and fed the prophetic anointing that was on his life.

But still she couldn’t see past the lack...More than money, she desperately needed to renew her mind.
See: Rom 12:2 (NIV)

Beloved, You need your mind renewed to see as God sees. If He's really your shepherd. Then you have no lack. Psalm 23:1

And if you are saved (for real)...There is an anointing on that house you're living in. Why? Because you live there, you reside there.

Other people shouldn't have to  come to your house and tell you what is the plan of God for your house. Trust the anointing that resides there.

Elisha shouldn't have had to come to her house, because the prophetic anointing  was still there, even though her husband was now dead & gone.

Think About This: It was the prophetic anointing brought in by her deceased husband that still rested on that house and caused the oil to flow & multiple after she had borrowed the vessels.

2/5/23 "What About Them?"

2/5/23

5 Minutes of Focus

"What About Them?"
But I call upon God as my soul's witness: it was to avoid hurting you that I refrained from coming to Corinth–
2 Corinthians 1:23 AMPC

Beloved,
You can't go everywhere you want to go ESPECIALLY if your showing up is going to hurt that other person.

The Apostle Paul didn't just show up unannounced, but he considered the feelings of those in Corinth
who would be deeply impacted by his presence.

He considered their feelings and decided to refrain from coming.

When was the last time, you considered someone else's feelings ahead of your own?

Some hurtful situations could have been avoided, had you just stop to think of that other person before doing what you did.

So thankful Jesus thought about us ahead of His own wants and needs and stopped asking the Father to have this cup passed from Him.
See: Matt 26:39 NIV

You see, Jesus understood that sometimes you have to discipline yourself to do "that thing" that is hard when there are other people involved, other people who will be impacted by your decision.

You can't just be selfish and expect that to be the right thing for everybody and not just you.

Stay home, even if you were invited to come, make other plans, make no plans, but steer clear of that person that can't deal with seeing you right now (for whatever reason).

They need time absent from you to get themselves together both mentally & emotionally.

If you really care about NOT hurting them...You will do like the Apostle Paul did and refrain from coming..Be sensitive to that other person's feelings and don't go, don't come, not yet.

Until Next Sunday.

1/29/23 "No Pity Party "

1/29/23

5 Minutes of Focus

"No Pity Party"
Answer me, Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.” Then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.
1 Kings 18:37‭-‬38 NIV

1 Kings 19: Elijah came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.”
1 Kings 19:4 NIV

In 1 Kings 18 God answered Elijah's prayer, but in 1 Kings 19 (the very next chapter) Elijah prayed, but he didn't get the answer he wanted.

If you feel like sometimes God answers you and sometimes He doesn't....YOU'RE RIGHT.

Beloved, God will not answer every prayer the way you want Him to, because if you're honest... Sometimes your prayers are full of faith, and other times your prayers are just you in your feelings talking to God.

So, God answered Elijah's 1st prayer...Because mentally his head was in a good place and he was full of faith.

But that 2nd prayer was totally different, Elijah was in his feelings, feeling sorry for himself and wanting to die.

Beloved, The one thing God will not do is have a pity party with you. If you want somebody to feel sorry for you that person won't be God.

He's waiting on you to realize that and renew your mind like He told you to do in
Rom12:2 NIV

So much can be going on in  this world and in your personal world, but God never meant for you to be transformed (changed) by any of it.

No, If you want God to respond to your prayers, you must stay steadfast in faith no matter what and no pity parties EVER!!

1/22/23 "But He Had"

1/22/23

5 Minutes of Focus

"But He Had"
Now Naaman was commander of the army of the king of Aram. He was a great man in the sight of his master and highly regarded, because through him the Lord had given victory to Aram. He was a valiant soldier, but he had leprosy.
2 Kings 5:1 NIV

Beloved, You don't have to be perfect and hopefully this set somebody free on today.

You don't have to be perfect in order to get some things perfectly done.

Naaman got a lot done, he got a lot accomplished, but he was not perfect. He was considered a great man, a man highly regarded, but he was not a perfect man.

But because of the God he had on his side, he was given victory over those who came up against him despite having leprosy, despite being a man flawed by illness.

So, While you may not be the one society would pick to be rewarded, because man is (always) looking at your outward appearance and needing everything to "appear" just right for the camera, for social media etc.

God is looking at your heart (1Sam 16:7), and though there may be flaws on the outside due to an illness, due to a disability, due to an accident you were in etc...

If you keep seeking the Lord. Heb 11:6 (NKJ) If you keep serving the Lord...He will; just like he did for Naaman cause men to see your greatness and speak highly of you, and give no mention of what you're going through or have been through.

"But he had leprosy"....Notice how those words came last after everything else had been said. The leprosy was an after thought. It was no longer the 1st thing people thought of when it came to him.

And it will be that way for you too. There is victory being prepared for you, there is positive words to be spoken about you. Soon your issue will be an after thought.

People won't always see you the way you're being seen right now...You're not alone in how you're feeling, but this too shall pass.

Read this message over & over UNTIL you receive it and allow your heart to heal. Because who the Son sets free is free indeed.
John 8:36 NIV

1/15/23 "And NOTHING MORE"

1/15/23

5 Minutes of Focus

"And NOTHING MORE"
Jesus was assigned to the woman at the well. He was there to help her get healed from her past relationships and be filled with the life-changing water of salvation and  NOTHING MORE.
John 4:1-29 NIV

Beloved, It's a dangerous thing to want something or someone for YOURSELF that God does not want for you.

But this is exactly what happens when we forget the assignment God gave us concerning that person and we get close with them in a way that we shouldn't.

That person was your assignment...God intended for you to draw them closer to Him, but instead you ended up drawing them closer to you.

And you wonder why things are not working out the way you had hoped...It's because where you saw a possible relationship, God saw ministry. Where you saw friendship, God saw mentorship.

In John 4: Jesus told the woman at the well to, “Go, call your husband and come back.” “I have no husband,” she replied. Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband.
John 4:16‭-‬17 NIV

But what if, Jesus next words to this precious woman who  was in need of salvation would have been, "I have no wife in which to speak of either. "

See how easy it is to derail the plan of God and cause things to go in a total different direction all because we allowed flesh to get involved, all because feelings got involved?

Jesus would have cost this precious woman her salvation, her chance to be free of EVERYTHING she had been carrying had he allowed himself to feel more for her that just His assignment.

That's why it's so important that we choose to die daily, that by choice we crucify our flesh.
Gal 5:16-17, 24
1Corin 15:31 NKJ

So that we can effectively minister to "that person" or any person and have no problem keeping it about the assignment, keeping it about God and what HE SAID, keeping it about salvation.

Because the one thing we should NEVER want to do (as servants of Christ) is be responsible for someone stumbling, falling, missing out on what God has for them.
Gal 5:7 CEV
