"Bonding Issues"
[28] When Eliab, David’s oldest brother, heard him speaking with the men, he burned with anger at him and asked, “Why have you come down here? And with whom did you leave those few sheep in the wilderness? I know how conceited you are and how wicked your heart is; you came down only to watch the battle."
1 Samuel 17:28 NIV
People close to you will look and misjudge your heart, they think they know why you're doing what you're doing, but they don't.
Eliab was David’s oldest brother (He and David grew up together) and yet he didn't know David or the intentions of David’s heart.
●Growing up together.
●Growing up in the same house.
●Growing up with the same parents.
None of these things guarantees a close bond between siblings.
Like any other kind of relationship, for siblings to really bond, it requires work.
Had Eliab been putting in the work and spending real quality time with David, it wouldn't have been so easy for him to get angry, to get offended at just the sound of his brother's voice.
You would be amazed at how many misunderstandings are in one household, how misjudging each other can put unnecessary strain on a family, on the sibling relationship especially.
At the end of the day:
👉God is the one looking at your heart.
👉God is the one keeping check on the condition of your heart.
1 Samuel 16:7 NIV
👉God is the one interested in every detail of your life.
Psalms 37:23 NLT
👉God is the one that knows the way that you take and why. Job 23:10 NIV
So, Don't let what's going on in your family, between you and your siblings stress you out.
You are NOT the 1st to be misjudged, to be misunderstood by a sibling and you won't be the last.
Until Next Sunday.
