7/28/24 "Minding Your Mental Health "

7/28/24

5 Minutes of Focus

"Minding Your Mental Health"
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 6:34 NIV

Stop worrying about tomorrow.  The more you worry about tomorrow, the more you rob yourself of time; time you could have spent  enjoying today.

Your mind can't be in today and in tomorrow at the same time. Your mind will be wherever you are. Mentally, you are either in the past, the present, or the future. Where are you?

[9] But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” [10] He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”
Genesis 3:9-10 NIV

Adam was in the present, tuned into what he was hearing & feeling in that moment.

He was afraid in that moment because of what he had done wrong. So, He hid.
He hid his nakedness- the fact that he was uncovered and vulnerable... He tried to hide that from God.

SOMEBODY:
Right now, You're trying to hide the fact that you're afraid, you're vulnerable, you're worried. You're not even living in the present. You are living in the past, your mind is  consumed with the past- trying to re-trace the steps of your path that has led you to where you are now.

Beloved,
You can't do it on your own. Get yourself an accountability partner- somebody whose going to hold you accountable for your mental health, somebody who will help you stay focused.

If Lot's wife would've had somebody to help her stay focused, somebody to hold her accountable for her mental health....Maybe, she never would have looked back, maybe she would have been able to go forward with her husband & family and keep her mind out of what was now the past.
Genesis 19:26 NIV

She lacked focus, and her mental health was not being cared for...and
it cost her the future she could have had.

Don't let what you're afraid of, what you're worried about steal your future, steal your today.
The devil comes only to steal, kill, and destroy.
John 10:10 NIV

7/21/24 "Questions "

7/21/24

5 Minutes Of Focus

"Questions"
Jesus from The Cross cried out:
[1] My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?
Psalms 22:1 NIV

And in Psalms 13 David said:
[1] How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? [2] How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me?
Psalms 13:1-2 NIV

The point is we all have questions...David had questions, even Jesus had questions.

There is nothing wrong with asking God questions.
God never said you couldn't ask Him questions. In fact, He encourages you to ask in Matthew 7:7 NIV

Asking is the only way the door will be open to certain things, open to certain conversations.

So Beloved, Don't be afraid to ask God the questions that keep you up at night. It's okay to want answers to why this happened and that happened.

If Jesus could ask God why He had forsaken him...and later discover that it was only temporary because He had taken our sin upon himself and God being "Holy" couldn't bare to look at sin NOT even on Jesus...So, He turned his back!!

If David could ask God how long...You can ask God about that situation you feel is taking too long, that situation that hurt you.

You can ask God, why you were abandoned? Why you were molested as a child?
Why a loved one died so soon?
Why you had to go through a painful breakup? Why you had to go through a painful divorce etc.?

However, Be prepared like Jesus to not hear the answer, but to discover the answer as life goes on and you're able to put 2 & 2 together via His Holy Spirit.

Remember, When it comes to asking God questions:
● We have not because we ask not. James 4:2 NIV
● Sometimes we ask amiss. James 4:3 NKJV
● But the sin is never in the questions.
● So, Ask!!

Until Next Sunday.

7/14/23 "Listen To Him"

7/14/24

5 Minutes of Focus

"Listen To Him"
Orpah made the decision to go back to Moab -the place of lack that God had moved her away from all because she couldn't see a husband in the "near" future for herself...The wait time would be HUMONGOUS (based on what Naomi had said). So, Orpah went back to the place she knew right or wrong.
Ruth 1:1-14 NIV

Beloved,
Never make a decision based solely on what somebody else has said to you.

Never make a decision out of fear of what you can or cannot see happening in the future.

Both of these are what Orpah did and it landed her right back where she started from.

SOMEBODY:
You don't have to start all over again. Listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit (right from where you are), He knows what direction you should be going in at this point in your life.

No man or wo-man who has never actually been YOU can tell you what to do for sure... They can give advice, they can suggest what might be the right thing to do, but the Holy Spirit knows for sure what you should do.

[20] Though the Lord gave you adversity for food and suffering for drink, he will still be with you to teach you. You will see your teacher with your own eyes. [21] Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left.
Isaiah 30:20-21 NLT

He knows for sure...
The Lord your God...He is the one who directs you in the way that you should go.
Isaiah 48:17 NIV

So, Take time out to listen to Him.

Until Next Sunday.

7/7/24 "Wasted Time "

7/7/24

5 Minutes of Focus

"Wasted Time"
[10] Elisha sent a messenger to say to Naaman, “Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored and you will be cleansed.” [11] But Naaman went away angry and said, “I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy.
2 Kings 5:10-11NIV

The bible let's us know that Naaman went away angry...He got mad and went away. But for how long? How long was he away? How much time did he waste being angry, being mad? Was it an hour, or was he away for a few hours etc.?
The bible doesn't say...

Naaman could've gotten healed sooner than he did, but because he wasted time...

Beloved,
God says, Stop wasting your time being mad...
You could have had your healing, had that job promotion, had that house already...If you hadn't wasted all that time being angry, being mad.

So many opportunities, so many major "life-changing" moments we miss out on and don't receive what God intended, all because of how we felt at the time.

So what, If things didn't go as you had planned or as you had hoped.
[9] A person may think up plans. But the Lord decides what he will do.
Proverbs 16:9 ICB

And the Lord has decided to delay your healing, delay that job promotion, delay that house UNTIL you can learn to be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.
James 1:19 NIV

Anger resides in the lap of fools (Eccles 7:9 NIV)...and is very costly to the progression of your future.
So, Stop being mad, being angry. Learn self-control.

Until Next Sunday.
