"Distrusting People"

So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
John 20:25 NIV

Thomas just refused to believe that the other disciples had seen Jesus...He wouldn't believe it, UNTIL he saw Jesus and the wounds he suffered for Himself.

Makes me wonder...
What Thomas had been through in his life PRIOR to becoming a disciple that would cause him to doubt, to not believe what's told to him, but he had to see it for himself ?

Seems like Thomas had a distrust of people. Seems like he had learned enough in life to know that people can and will LIE to you.

Seems like Thomas had dealt with that LYING Spirit before, in people close to him. Therefore, he was not SO QUICK to trust or believe the disciples.

Simply put:Thomas was a human being  just like you & me with issues he still needed to take directly to Jesus.

Because there are some hurts that only being in Jesus' presence for yourself will heal.

When you go through so much at the hands of people; them lying to you, lying on you...It's difficult to just bounce back from that mentally like nothing ever happened and be the trusting person you were before.

Jesus knowing that; came back to the house a 2nd time to show Thomas his wounds, all the places on The Cross he had been hurt by people.
Zechariah 13:6 KJV

Then Jesus tells him to stop doubting. You see, Beloved, there comes a time when IT'S SAFE to put your doubts to rest.

Jesus was there to help Thomas who was doubting, he was there to help him see the truth and heal.

Jesus was there to help Thomas get over his distrust of people; as far as the disciples were concerned anyways...

He could trust them, it's just that mentally he couldn't process that yet...

Mentally, I know there are some things you can't process yet when it comes to trusting people...NO JUDGING HERE.

I just pray you get healed enough to see that all people are not like the ones that hurt you and made you distrustful in the 1st place.

Until Next Sunday.

"Stepping It Up"

Joseph was a good man and did not want to embarrass Mary in front of everyone. So he decided to quietly call off the wedding.  While Joseph was thinking about this, an angel from the Lord appeared to him in a dream. The angel said, “Joseph, the baby that Mary will have is from the Holy Spirit. Go ahead and marry her. Then after her baby is born, name him Jesus...
Matthew 1:19‭-‬21 CEV

In the text: Joseph finds himself reacting to several different things at once.

👉 He was reacting to being cheated on.

ðŸ‘‰ He was reacting to the fact that "His Girl" was pregnant, but not by him.

👉 He was reacting to being told by an angel not to call off the wedding, marry her and then stick around and name the child.

Fellas, Can you imagine being told to stick around and name a child that's not even yours?

His only comfort was finding out Mary hadn't been unfaithful to him and her baby was of the Holy Spirit and not some other man.

But STILL, there are many good men who have stepped up and did what Joseph did....Knowing that the child was indeed another man's.

But because they desired a family (something real) with that child's mother....They have accepted the child as their own. No questions asked.

If that's you...
And you have accepted a child or children that's not biologically yours as your own...I salute you this Father's Day for stepping up and creating a family for yourself.

👉 I salute you for doing what God would want. He would want you to train up that child....And training them up has nothing to do with DNA.
Proverbs 22:6 NKJ

👉 I salute you for giving that child what Jesus needed while on He was on this earth...

👉 He needed to have his identity linked to the presence of an earthly father.

So, He was thought to be Joseph's son.
Luke 3:23 NIV

Remember also, The bible says, As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.
Proverbs 23:7 NKJ

So, it's important how a child thinks growing up. t's important that their self-esteem is healthy....And you're making it happen.

I salute you, Father.
I salute you, Man.

Happy Father's Day!!! 💙

Until Next Sunday.

Where Is Your Faith?

In his time of trouble King Ahaz became even more unfaithful to the Lord. He offered sacrifices to the gods of Damascus, who had defeated him; for he thought, “Since the gods of the kings of Aram have helped them, I will sacrifice to them so they will help me.” But they were his downfall and the downfall of all Israel.
2 Chronicles 28:22‭-‬23 NIV

Beloved, You can't do what EVERYBODY else does and think it will be okay for you.

King Ahaz tried to get help from the same place that gods of Damascus had received help...

Thinking that if, it worked for them, surely it would work for him....WRONG‼

As a matter of fact, the text says, they (the people) he tried to connect himself to ended up being his downfall  and the downfall of all Israel.

So, Whatever you do, don't let people be your downfall...

Don't let trying to do what other people do be your down fall.

The text starts off by saying, In his time of trouble King Ahaz  became even more unfaithful to the Lord.
Don't let that be you.

Where is your faith?

Is it in people?

Is it in an organization or a group of people you think can help you because of what they've done for somebody else?

Where is your faith?

The bible says, We have all been given a measure of faith....
Rom 12:3 NLT

Still what you do with the faith you have been given is up to you.

You can be like King Ahaz and become even more unfaithful to the Lord when trouble hits your door.

You can have faith that what helped others with help you WITHOUT even attempting to ask God HIS Opinion....and trust me, He has an opinion.

Or you can be like Job...Who lost everything literally EXCEPT his marriage, and still he refused to curse God and die. Job 2:9 NIV

Instead, the bible says: In all of this, Job did not sin by blaming God.
Job 1:22 NLT

Can you say the same?

Or has other gods become your god?

P. S. And did you know, blaming God is a SIN?

• Think about it...
It's right there in Job 1:22 NLT

Until Next Sunday.

"Unresponsive"

Do not quench [subdue, or be unresponsive to the working and guidance of] the [Holy] Spirit.
1 Thessalonians 5:19 AMP

God let me notice this scripture in the Amplified Version of the bible about 2 weeks ago now, and it has really stayed with me, stayed in my spirit.

For me, It's the part about being UNRESPONSIVE...
That's what really got me.

So much so, that I had to go in prayer and ask God to forgive me for all the times, I have been unresponsive to the leading and guiding of the Holy Spirit.

You see, As human beings, we are so quick to say that God's  not doing anything or say that our prayers are not being answered.

But what if...You were unresponsive the whole time?

You were unresponsive to the leading and guiding of the Holy Spirit.  Therefore, to the Holy Spirit you appeared DEAD and no longer in need of assistance.

Think about this: For 4 days, Lazarus appeared DEAD to all those who knew him, so they left him in the grave.
John 11

Simply put: If you don't respond to the Holy Spirit, He will leave you there in that situation unattended.

You see, As wise as the Holy Spirit is... He STILL requires that you respond to Him when He speaks.

In 1 Samuel 3,  Samuel was young and he didn't yet recognize the voice of God, but yet he responded EVERY time he was called. True, it was the wrong response, but yet he responded.

So, God (the Holy Spirit) kept calling him, and calling him, and calling him until Samuel  (with Eli's help) finally was able to give the correct response.

Samuel said,
"Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.”
1 Samuel 3:9 NIV

So, How can you honestly say, God is not doing anything or your prayers are not being answered?

When you havent responded with a "Yes, Lord, Speak Lord..."

It's all about acknowledging His voice and you haven't done that.

You haven't done anything to show Holy Spirit that you're listening and you're at least TRYING to be responsive, be obedient to His voice.

Even if, you're not sure, respond and watch what happens.

Until Next Sunday.
