12/28/25 "Limited Access "

12/28/25

#5MinutesOfFocus

"Limited Access"
[18] Now Bethany was less than two miles from Jerusalem, [19] and many Jews had come to Martha and Mary to comfort them in the loss of their brother.
John 11:18-19 NIV

Be mindful of those who come around you when you are dealing with a major loss, be mindful of those who come around you when you are down.

Some will honestly be there to comfort you, to encourage you, to check on you like The Jews did when they came to visit Martha & Mary.

Still I must warn you, because there are those who will only come visit to see, to hear, and report back EVERYTHING that you have left undone from your physical appearance, to the appearance of your house. They are there looking for something to gossip about, they are not there because they are concerned about you.

I pray God give you spiritual discernment even in the midst of your grief, even in the midst of what you're going through to see those who are really there for you and those who are not.

In Micah 7:8 NIV
The prophet Micah said something powerful. He said, The LORD would be his light when he's fallen and the LORD will not let his enemies (plural) gloat over him during his darkest season.

As He was with Micah, I just feel led to say to somebody reading this, THE LORD IS WITH YOU NOW.

Loss is hard and grief is a real emotion, but the darkness will not overtake you nor will your enemies be able to gloat. SOME THINGS are just meant to be private, meant to be dealt with in private. So, It's okay to limit some people's access to you at this time.

Until Next Sunday.

12/21/25 "Smooth As Butter "

12/21/25

#5MinutesofFocus

"Smooth As Butter!!"
[21] His talk is smooth as butter, yet war is in his heart; his words are more soothing than oil, yet they are drawn swords. [22] Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.
Psalms 55:21-22 NIV

I love that verse 21 talks about how manipulative a person can be; talking one way, but hiding the true motive behind all that smooth talk in their heart.

I love that the bible, the word of God, the instruction manual Jesus left behind for us to live our lives by addresses real life issues such as manipulation.

Verse 21: His talk is smooth as butter, yet war is in his heart...That sounds like manipulation to me. Anytime a person smooth talks you into believing what "they want" you to believe, and hides what's really going on from you....YOU ARE BEING MANIPULATED!!

Now, Verse 22: The verse that comes after all that might seem out of place, but trust me, when I tell you...
GOD KNOWS what He’s doing.

1st He uses the hand of David as a"the psalmist" in Psalms 55 to talk to us about manipulation - how it sounds, but it's true intent is hidden and THEN in the next verse, verse 22: God says, Now Cast Your Cares!!

SOMEBODY:
Cast your cares on the Lord.
You have been manipulated long enough by the people you trusted. God will sustain you. They thought they had you shaken, but GOD won't allow you to be shook.

Until Next Sunday.

12/14/25 "Now What?!"

12/14/25

#5MinutesofFocus

"Now What?!"
[28] “...Why have you come down here? And with whom did you leave those few sheep in the wilderness? I know how conceited you are and how wicked your heart is; you came down only to watch the battle.” [29] “Now what have I done?” said David. “Can’t I even speak?”
1 Samuel 17:28-29 NIV

Beloved,
You haven't done anything wrong and you haven't said anything wrong.
You do have the right to speak. No one gets to silence your voice, just because hearing your voice triggers them. Hearing David’s voice triggered something in Eliab. (1 Samuel 17:28 NIV)

We all have triggers, something that takes us back to a place, back to a space, we would rather not re-visit. That's no excuse, that's life.

So, Stop carrying yourself as though you deserve what's being said. You know who you are, you know you're not conceited, you know you're not the bad person they're trying to make you out to be.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO STAY and take the hurt. David hearing what his brother really thought of him must have hurt because the bible says, "The mouth speaks what the heart is full of." (Luke 6:45 NIV)

Hearing how that person really feels about you and knowing those negative words are coming from their heart had to hurt you as well.

AGAIN, YOU DON'T HAVE TO STAY and take the hurt. David didn't. He turned away from his brother.
(1 Samuel 17:30 NIV)

Keep in mind that the bible also says in Romans 12:18 NIV
[18] If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.

👉If it is possible- Implying that it's not always possible.

👉As much as depends on you- You've done your part (the rest is not on you).

👉NOW is your time to turn away, walk away, protect your peace. Reconciliation is NOT always possible.

Until Next Sunday.

12/7/25 "It's All A Part Of The Journey"

12/7/25

#5MinutesofFocus

"It's All A Part Of The Journey"
[20] So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals. But for Adam no suitable helper was found.
[21] So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. [22] Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
Genesis 2:20-22 NIV

Now, Keep in mind that Adam was a man, but he was a man that had never seen a woman. So, Seeing Eve for the 1st time there before him was something new, something different, something that he had no knowledge of.

And in that moment, Adam could have looked and said, "No." He could have totally rejected what God was trying to do, but he didn't.

Instead,
Adam said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.”
Genesis 2:23 NIV

Do you know the kind of faith it took for Adam to make such a bold statement like that?

And here we are, you and me... If God just shows us a glance of something new, something different, something that we have no knowledge of. If God just shows us a glance of something that requires more faith than we had yesterday.....

We start questioning, if it's even God, we start entertaining doubt, and finding reasons to justify our hesitation.

But NOT Adam, He didn't question God, he didn't waste his big moment entertaining doubt, or justifying any hesitation.

He just accepted that it was brought to him, because it was a part of him, a part of his journey. He just accepted that Eve was a part of him, a part of what God had for him.
And so, He called her, "Woman"- BONE OF HIS BONES, flesh of his flesh. "

Go back and read Genesis 2:23 again. Because in one verse, Adam shows us how to respond in faith (as though our Heavenly Father knows what's best for us) because He does know what's best for us.

I pray we be more like Adam when it comes to accepting the things, accepting the people God brings into our lives... It's all a part of the journey.

Until Next Sunday.
