"Distrusting People "

#5MinutesofFocus

"Distrusting People"
So the other disciples told Thomas, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
John 20:25 NIV

Thomas just refused to believe that the other disciples had seen Jesus...He wouldn't believe it, UNTIL he saw Jesus and the wounds he suffered for Himself.

Makes me wonder...
What Thomas had been through in his life PRIOR to becoming a disciple that would cause him to doubt, to not believe what's told to him, but he had to see it for himself ?

Seems like Thomas had a distrust of people. Seems like he had learned enough in life to know that people can and will LIE to you.

Seems like Thomas had dealt with that LYING Spirit before, in people close to him. Therefore, he was not SO QUICK to trust or believe the disciples.

Thomas was a human being just like you & me with issues he still needed to take directly to Jesus.

Because there are some hurts that only being in Jesus' presence for yourself will heal.

When you go through so much at the hands of people; them lying to you, lying on you...It's difficult to just bounce back from that mentally like nothing ever happened and be the trusting person you were before.

Jesus knowing that; came back to the house a 2nd time to show Thomas his wounds, all the places on The Cross he had been hurt by people.
Zechariah 13:6 KJV

Then Jesus tells him to stop doubting. You see, Beloved, there comes a time when IT'S  SAFE to put your doubts to rest.

Jesus was there to help Thomas who was doubting, he was there to help him see the truth and heal.

Jesus was there to help Thomas get over his distrust of people; as far as the disciples were concerned anyways...

He could trust them, it's just that mentally he couldn't process that yet...

Mentally, I know there are some things you can't process yet when it comes to trusting people...NO JUDGING HERE.

I just pray you get healed enough to see that all people are not like the ones that hurt you and made you distrustful in the 1st place.

Until Next Sunday.

11/2/25 "You Can't Afford To Miss It"

"You Can't Afford To Miss It"
[18] One day when her child was older, he went out to help his father, who was working with the harvesters. [19] Suddenly he cried out, “My head hurts! My head hurts!” His father said to one of the servants, “Carry him home to his mother.”
2 Kings 4:18-19 NLT

HIS MOTHER was a woman who operated heavy in the gift of discernment. So much so, that she discerned just from observing him that Elisha was indeed a real man of God.

Sure of what she was picking up in her spirit, she decided to build a room (onto her house) for the man of God whenever he was in town.

Now, The devil didn't show up during the building of the room...But one day, when her son was out of the field helping his father, the devil attacked his head.

SOMEBODY: Your child is having "random" headaches that just happen without any triggers or warning signs.

PRAY...Don't ever let your guard down when it comes to your children.

PRAY without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV)
Never stop praying.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NLT)

Parents: Pray over your children because when the enemy can't get to you...He will come for your seed.

When he can't stop what you're currently working on, what you are currently building....He will go after what you  already have accomplished.

And what greater accomplishment is there than motherhood, than fatherhood.

The mother in 2 Kings 4 was operating heavy in the gift of discernment, but the one day she really needed the gift...She missed it!!

PRAY...Never rely on the gift more than you rely on the God who gave you the gift, because you can be gifted and still miss it...

You can be anointed and still miss it. Just ask the prophet Samuel. He missed it, thinking that Eliab was the next king when he wasn't.
1 Samuel 16

PRAY.... Because you can't afford to miss it when it comes to your children's mental health etc.

Until Next Sunday.

10/26/25 "Cherishing Sin "

10/26/25

#5MinutesofFocus

"Cherishing Sin"
What does your heart look like? Remember, God looks at the heart and NOT the outward appearance according to 1 Samuel 16:7
Are you cherishing something in your heart that came about because of sin?
If so, You're right...God is not listening, He’s not listening to your prayers because of the sin that's in your heart, the sin that you are cherishing.
---
📖 Verse: Psalm 66:18 (NIV)
“If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.”
---
🔍 Word Study: "Cherish"
What does it mean to cherish sin?
- In The Original Hebrew: The word translated as “cherish” comes from a root meaning to regard, consider, or give place to. It implies intentionality—not just having sin, but holding it close.
 - To cherish sin is to protect it, justify it, or refuse to release it.
 - It’s not about struggling with sin, but clinging to it knowingly.
---
- The psalmist is saying that if he had knowingly held onto sin, God would not have responded to his prayers.
• Because cherishing sin creates a spiritual blockage. It’s not that God is unwilling to listen, but that unrepentant sin distorts the relationship.
---
•Personal accountability:
-  “If I…” shows the psalmist owns his spiritual condition.
- Because intimacy with God requires honesty and honesty is the 1st step to you taking accountability.
- GOOD NEWS:
- Repentance restores access: When sin is confessed and released, the barrier is removed.
So, Ask God to show you that thing, that time in your life that you are cherishing, that is sin. REPENT & SEEK to let it go. Make room for God to listen again.

Until Next Sunday.

10/19/25 "Goals"

10/19/25

#5MinutesofFocus

"Goals"
[28] “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” [29]  “Come,” Jesus said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. [30] But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Matthew 14:28-30 NIV

Stay focused on your goals and don't worry about the wind. Whoever watches the wind will not plant -meaning you will not take the time to sow, to invest in what you say is important to you for fear of the wind- fear of what conditions are like, fear of what your circumstances will be like.
Ecclesiastes 11:4 NIV

SOMEBODY Else: You're worried about the when...
When will it happen, now that I have sown, been sowing, been investing, taking one step at a time.

Peter messed up when he took his eyes off Jesus and started concerning himself with what the wind was doing. Up until that moment, he was taking it one step at a time, making it happen.

Peter was walking on the water. Peter was doing something that only Jesus knew he was capable of achieving, if given a chance. So, He invited him to "Come."

Beloved,
There are some things, some goals that only God knows you are capable of achieving.  There will be days, when the people who know you best won't believe in you or your goals. There will even be days, when you doubt your own capability.
Just remember, You can do
ALL things  through  Christ who strengthens you.
Philippians 4:13 NIV

You are not sinking, it just feels that way. Keep going until you reach your goals.
 I BELIEVE IN YOU.

Until Next Sunday.

10/12/25 "Fearfully & Wonderfully"

10/12/25

#5MinutesofFocus

"Fearfully & Wonderfully"
[5] “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart....
Jeremiah 1:5 NIV

Keep in mind that God knew you before you were in your mother's womb just like He told Jeremiah  and still in all that time, from then up until now...

God says, The only thing He has ever called you was fearfully and wonderfully.  Where do you think David got those exact words from?

In Psalm 139
David was just saying back to God, what God had said over him, and you should do the same.

I know this world has labeled you as this and that, placed you in a box and tried to stereotype you because of your race, calling you names that would be unfit for a dog.

People that should love you and be the biggest supporter of "whatever" you do have also called you names that fall beneath your character.

Even the doctors have diagnosed some of you as this and as that....
Still God says, The only 2 words (names) I have ever called you were fearfully and wonderfully any other words, any other names were not of me, or approved by me.

Beloved,
Do like David and ONLY call yourself what God calls you. YOU CAN STOP A LOT OF WHAT PEOPLE CALL YOU by quoting back to them what YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER has said about you.

Build your faith up (Jude 1:20 NKJV) and speak into the atmosphere:
Psalms 139:13-14 NIV
[13] For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. [14] I praise you because I AM fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Now, Act like you know, hold your head up like you know.
YOU ARE FEARFULLY & WONDERFULLY made.

Until Next Sunday.

10/5/25 "Getting Prepared!!"

10/5/25

#5MinutesofFocus

"Getting Prepared!!"
In Psalms 23:
David says to the Lord,
"You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies"....And if anybody knows about getting prepared in the presence of his enemies, it would be David!!

Beloved,
God is preparing a table for you, but at the same time....He is preparing YOU for the table. That's where your enemies come in.

God is using your enemies to stretch you, so that mentally you will be able to process the kind of peace He is going to cause you to enter into once you make it to the table.

You will have peace right in the face of  the enemies that have bothered you in the past, once you make it to the table.

Spiritually this table represents the gathering of your thoughts, it represents you finally getting your mind together and being able to relax & enjoy the blessings you already have without any guilt being present.

And your enemies, they will be there as a sign that God is pleased with your ways -meaning your conduct, your choices, your heart posture-how you live, not just what you say.
Proverbs 16:7 NKJV

This I Decree (Job 22:28)
In Jesus Name,
Amen 🙏

Until Next Sunday.
